What’s Happening

Morgan Housden began serving as the Town of Stanley’s Director of Parks & Recreation in March of 2018. Mrs. Housden received her B.S. in Recreation, Parks, and Tourism from Radford University in 2012. She concentrated her studies in Tourism Management, Special Events, and Outdoor Recreation before eventually becoming the Assistant Director of Parks & Recreation for the Town of Luray in 2013. Her areas of expertise include planning, implementing, and evaluating events, managing and maintaining municipal parklands and facilities, grant writing, applying commercial recreation concepts, and staying current with recreational trends. Mrs. Housden is excited to continue to improve the Town of Stanley’s already successful parks and programs with hopes to steadily increase amenities, aesthetics, and safety. Currently, she is working on enhancing the Town’s social media presence and marketing strategies, helping plan the Town’s upcoming events, and studying to become a Certified Aquatic Facility Operator. When Morgan isn’t working in her parks, she spends time in the garden, enjoys nature photography, and likes to go fishing. She resides in Luray with her husband David as well as their daughter Leah and dog Kora. Morgan can be reached at 540-244-4928.
