The Stanley Treatment Facility is located at 1399 Business 340 West and is a 300,000 aerobic plant that uses oxidation ditches. The two 150,000 gallon ditches are aerated by two mechanical rotors in each ditch.

Other structures include two clarifiers, a 26,000 gallon digester, mechanical bar screen, three sand drying beds and a generator for backup power

Disinfection of the wastewater is handled by a ultraviolet lighting system that was just installed in 2002. The system has two channels for high flows or in case one is shut down for maintenance. The UV system is a series of fluorescent lights that kill the bacteria as the water passes under. The cost of the system was nearly $100,000.00 but is much more efficient and does not present the hazard problems that chlorine gas did.

Other structures include a storage building and a larger building that contains a lab, shower facilities and a meeting room.

Construction is now underway on a new biosolids belt press that will eliminate one drying bed but greatly reduce the moisture content in the sludge now. This will be a huge cost savings for the Town over the next several years.

The collection system consists of several miles of eight inch gravity sewer line and two, four, six, eight and ten inch force main pipe. There are also six sewer lift stations that pump the sewer towards the wastewater plant. They are located on Aylor Grubbs Avenue, Pond Avenue, Cubbage Road, East Main Street, Slate Road and Middleburg Road. The system serves approximately 962 customers.

Water Supply

The Town of Stanley has groundwater wells that supply water to the Town and its surrounding areas. The population served by the system is around 3,600 (2007) people. The water system consists of two separate systems that include seven wells, two storage tanks and a booster pump. The safe yield is 545,000 gallons per day and the storage consists of 560,000 gallons. The first and largest system is made up of six wells, two storage tanks and supplies 99.9% of the 1,562 (2007) metered customers. The second system contains one well and supplies one-metered customer the Page County Technical Center.

Well Number One is located on Pump Lane off of Honeyville Avenue and averages 80 gallons per minute.

Storage tank number one (60,000 gallons) is also located on Pump Lane. Well Number Two is located on Little Roundhead Drive off of Donovan Road and pumps 35 gallons per minute. Well Number three is also located on Little Roundhead Drive adjacent to Storage tank number 2 (500,000 gallons) and pumps 60 gallons per minute. Well Number Four is located on Bosley Drive and pumps 200 gallons per minute. Well Number Five is located on Middleburg Road and pumps only 35 gallons per minute but yielded 200 gallons per minute and Well Number Six is located on Gray Drive off of Aylor Grubbs Avenue and pumps 400 gallons per minute. Well Number Seven, the Town newest has been drilled off of Goodrich Road near the Page County Animal Shelter and yields 300 gallons per minute. Plans are for it to be on line by Summer of 2007.

The Town was also the recipient of a Wellhead Protection Grant in the amount of $45,000.00 which will be used to study the area around the well and identify possible contaminate sources.
